In the year 2000 local musicians Zwedda and Hrafn got together with Morgan and B. War from Marduk, and started playing Misfits and Samhain covers, later they began writing their own songs, but with the obvious influence of the aftermentioned bands, soon enough they released a Mini Cd called " Howling" The Ep contained 4 original songs, 2 covers of Misfits, and 2 of Samhain.
After a long hiatus, Devils Whorehouse released their fist full-length, called "Revelation Unorthodox" , a Horror Rock album filled with themes like Bondage, Sado-masochism and classical horror subjects.
Musically, there's not much originality here, think Misfits, Samhain and Danzig, and add some Death Metal touches in the music (not growls), and there you have it, pretty simple right? At least in the info sheet says that they don't claim to be the most original band out there.
Although is a "tribute" to those bands, some songs are pretty catchy, take for instance, "The Howling" shortest song in the album, clocking 1.32 minutes, is a really good song and easily, my favorite song, other fine tune is "The Raven", has a great chorus, it sticks in your mind for weeks!
The album has many tracks that last less than two minutes, these kind of songs are my favorites in the album, they're short, so they don't become boring; they're catchy, so you can sing 'em over an over again and finally , those songs are the fastest, hence, more Metal!
This record is fun, may not be the most original, and may not have the most intelligent lyrics, but this is the core of horror music, and they succeed in creating the atmosphere necessary, recommended for all Horror Metal/Rock fans out there.
