German singer Hubi Meisel and his second album makes an appearance at Metal Storm, he has been member of bands like Triple X and Dreamscape and he's quite known in the German Progressive scene.
The album can be described as Progressive Hard Rock, the music is very laid back, and not too aggressive, the good thing about this is that the compositions are very varied and contain various elements which make it interesting. Worth mentioning are the guitar solos and the keyboards.
As you may have noticed the album is about legends if the sea, the Bermuda triangle, the sea of Sargasso, Atlantis and other stuff from the deeps, if you're interested in this kind of stuff, log on to his website to get a wider explication of the topics dealt in this concept album.
I can't really say that this is an excellent album, because I don't think it so, while some of the compositions are really nice and well-crafted, they lack aggression, and not to mention that I know many people that will be completely annoyed by Hubi´s voice, because is really weird, mostly when he tries to reach high notes, and sometimes he put his voice in "weeping mode" which is completely unbearable.
Musically, this album is good (although the lack of aggression); lyrically, the concept is interesting and it really shows that a research has been done; but sadly, vocally, the album falls completely to the ground. It's a shame because I had some expectations for this album, well, you can't win every time right?
