Stubora is an Hardcore combo made in France and "What We See Is Not What We Wanna See" is the first real album of the band. I must be clear for this band and for this review? If you don't like Hardcore and all this new wave of Neo Thrash metal, you can go away? No need to read this article, for the others, this band is maybe for you?
When I listen to "What We See Is Not What We Wanna See" I have two feelings. The first one is that this is the pure album to do pogo and to jump like a lobotomised in the Pit, and of course it's a good point because bands also play Metal for the gigs and for the shows and not only for your stereo. I never seen this band in live, but I'm quite sure that it must be a real furia during their shows.
My other feeling is that this album is more than not original? It's like if I already listened to this album several times. And that's the real bad point of the album. It's hard to explain but when you'll listen to this cd, you'll certainly find it really powerful but on the other hand I'm not sure that you'll keep it in mind for a long time? This is just average in fact?
The sound of the cd is not perfect too. Not bad but this is not really perfect. This is not the best production that I saw but here again this is average.
It's a shame, because I think that the band has a real potentiality, but their music is just to basic; not really technical and of course this kind of lacks can't pay at the end?
Stubora is not a bad band, at the opposite but they will really need to do something more original the next time, that's the only problem with this album. But if not, I'm afraid that this band will only stay in the underground of the Hardcore bands. Anyway; I'm sure that in the future, we could have something better with them and of course if you like pogo music, "What We See Is Not What We Wanna See" is in spite of, for you.
