Degenerate is a band that is already known among the Metalstormers, first because Jakob (vocals) is a regular member of our forums, and second, I reviewed their first Demo a while ago on the site, the Demo displayed a tasteful demonstration of Melodic Death Metal, Finnish style.

Now Degenerate recorded in very little time a second Demo, called "Lost In Glass And Stone", and let me tell you that I'm very excited in receiving this, because I really liked their prior work, now I had a chance to witness the evolution of the band.
Sadly for me, I found no big evolution in the band, only what it seems to be a change of direction, the band seems to be more focused in playing Thrash-Death Metal rather than Melodic Death Metal, the riffs in each song are chunky and dense, other change is the vocals, they're more varied now, at least it seems so.

The opener and title track "Lost In Glass And Stone" follows the Melodeath trend perfectly, without being a cloned copy of such acts as In Flames or Dark Tranquillity to name a few, "Tool Of Failure" relies on more modern rhythms to have that particular catchiness, "Lenore" is the weirder song of them all, features clean vocals and some unintelligible deep and low guttural growls, "Ghostless" is a mid paced song that didn't caught my attention, to close the Demo, the 2 minutes long "Posses The Living" brings an interesting twist on the line of the album, a spoken track with some accords in the back?

Degenerate is a band with talent, I know that, but they disappointed me slightly with this Demo, because I preferred the first one much more, the Melodic Death Metal formula was a little used, but well used at last. I can't blame them for trying something new here, I'll just lower my rate because I think that they could do a lot better.
This demo is fun to listen, and maybe will get some headbangs out of you, but it won't blow your head away.
