From the now well-established French label Listenable Records comes the last speed-massacre-Black-Death-Metal-destruction from a new combo, The Legion, entitled "Unseen To Creation". Marduk fans may have heard of The Legion as it's the band featuring their current drummer Emil Dragutinovic. Have you ever heard some easy-listening music? Well, imagine the opposite and you'll be close to what The Legion proudly plays. It's like Sadistik Exekution gone berserk merges Slayer on ecstasy. I know it may sound interesting and even attractive to some of you - the tough ones - but you can forget about it right now. It's annoying, painful to the ears and to the brain and it has probably cost me 5 years off from my life expectancy.
Blasting drums is the only thing that will remain from this album for me. Clearly, there is no place for inspiration here, every component put the emphasis on brutal Death / Black Metal with special mentions to unintelligible lyrics and nauseatingly devastating guitar riffs. The only hints of composition are in the too short intros while the two instrumental intros are plainly unremarkable.
While I must admit that Black Metal played at the speed of Stratovarius isn't my domain of predilection, I doubt this album could even get some interest from pure BM addicts. This type of Metal was fun 10 years ago, or even more fun to hear coming from a garage while roaming in your neighborhood but truthfully some diversity or even some musical patterns would be welcome. Even Carnal Forge sounds like Dream Theater compared to these guys.
The cover art looks like a photo from the movie series "Aliens" with the name of the band in one of these unreadable fonts suitable to Black Metal artists. Nothing really impressive but worth half a point nonetheless.
For the music, two points is largely enough in my opinion. One for the funny effect it produces and one as it might help you to oust somebody from your apartment.
In a nutshell, I'll be glad if this album is unseen to creation and you'll have to pay me big money just to listen to it again. If you're looking for a record to blast your neighbors ears off or provoke a stroke to rich Grandma, "Unseen To Creation" might come in handy. Other than that, I don't really see any other outcome for this album.
