Unrelentless, fast paced guitars, furious drumming, hellish shrieks, yep, you got it, Black Metal. And for the million dollar prize: War themes, boring tempos and uncreative song writing, yes again, old school Black Metal, hey! You're good at this! You should be working here instead of me.

Scratching Soil is a two man project from Russia, and with "War Experience" they try to convince us that they're doing something new, something innovative and something fresh, well they aren't, they just took various elements from diverse sources and inspirations and put it together into this 9 song Cd.

Clocking almost 40 minutes, the album has it moments, some melodic tempo breaks are the best part here, because the drum patterns are very repetitive, so some "moodier" parts are greatly welcome. Maybe some Blacksters will like this, for me I found it to repetitive to play it often, maybe some foggy day when I want to destroy something I'll play his.

Maybe I'm becoming too exigent when it comes to Black Metal or any other Metal genre, but I can't listen the same stuff over and over again, and while this Scratching Soil is not a complete letdown, is not flawless either, is just a typical Black Metal Cd, some people will enjoy this, and some (like me) won't.

Blacksters may like this like I said before, as for me, a regular guy who doesn't put on corspepaint when going to the woods for a family picnic, I'll pass on this release and wait for the next big thing in Black Metal.
