Agony, a band from Czech Republic?. Hum I don't know why, but each time that I have to listen to a band from the Eastern countries I have some good surprises. This band was totally unknowns for me (even if they play Metal since 1995), but after that I listened to their last album "Call The Rain", honestly I had the feeling that maybe I could check their others albums. Yeah "Call The Rain" is a very good surprise?

It's not very easy to definite the style of Agony, but to sum up, maybe I could say that it's a mix between Death Metal and Power. All their songs are very melodic, but also powerful, with a lot of excellent catchy guitars riffs, and also a lot of keyboards with in general the sound of a classic piano, and well it sound good. Of course, the keyboards give a lot of backing-chorus too, but well it's important to say that the keyboards are also one of the "lead" on each song. With all that, you have to add the Death vocals of the two male singers but also sometime the clean vocal of one of them, and the female clean vocals of Petra [the keyboardist]. At the end it really sound progressive sometime, very original and with a really good musical structure. The songs are complex, all the instruments are very present, but not boring, really it's the good point with this band. That's an original Death Metal, not a pure one, of course you understood it before, but well it's good in my opinion to have some variety and mixing between all the style [when it's well done of course?] and the "classical music" parts that you have sometime like on the first song "From Dusk Till Dawn" are more than interesting.
"Call The Rain" is however not really perfect, for example, I find that some time the musicians are not sure of them, it's a bit hesitating [for the English for example] but in general this album don't suffer of any real big problems. The production for example, is nice, with a good sound, a classic but very full booklet and even a video of the band. It's well done, original and it deserve your interest, no doubt.

One time again, a band from the Eastern countries, prove to us that maybe we could have a better look on their Metal scene. It's nice, well done, talented and original, and then tell me why you couldn't buy this cd? Yeah there is no reason, believe me, have a look on it you'll be more than surprised?
