03. Nightwing

You know as well as I do that the Melodic Death Metal scene (together with the Power Metal scene) is way to overpopulated today. There are new and average bands to both left and right, and you absolutely don't know were to turn anymore.
Luckily are there some acts even in these both genres that can brighten our days.
Cyphoria is one of those bands, their MeloDeath doesn't in anyway reflects from their age (average age is 19), they might be young but they play like they been around for ages.

After their formation in 2002, Cyphoria has recorded their debut demo "Contradiction Conundrum Deprived" in early 2004. But since it's quite expensive to rent a studio, they only had time to record three songs, which has a playtime around 11 minutes.
But even if it's short, you easily can hear that these guys (and girl) got a bright future ahead.

The demo kicks off with the song "Transcendental Requiem of Fire", that's actually a 2 minutes long intro. But different from other intros, this one shows us the potential in the band. The melody is really great, and the first time I heard it I though it was a real song.

Second up is the better of the two real songs, "Cybernetic Enhancements", in which they show us that this is a band that we should count on in the future.
The riffs is great, the vocals a very professional and, not to forget, the keyboards, I usually don't like the keyboards in MeloDeath, they doesn't fit. But this is different, I never heard a MeloDeath band using keyboards like this, it's not the usual Children of Bodom using, Cyphoria's keyboards are more organic and created an atmosphere, and is not used as a compliment to the guitars.

The last song, "Nighwing" pick up pretty much where the past song left us. There are no really major differences between the songs. There are great riffs, the same atmospheric keyboards and the vocals are very professional handled.

Overall I think this demo is strong, and Cyphoria is one of the strongest young MeloDeath acts out there today, at least around here.
I'll cross my finger and hope to hear a new demo from the band soon, or maybe even better, a full-length album, if they are ready for that. I'm convinced that they are.

Check Out: The whole Demo, all the songs are good.
