I don't know if Abramis Brama is known outside of Sweden, because I never heard their name before, and I don't know exactly how popular is Stoner Metal in Sweden, so is hard to say anything about the context surrounding this band, except that they groove really nice!
Never got much into Stoner Metal, but I like this band, remind me of acts like Kyuss, newer Corrosion Of Conformity and in some degree to Cathedral, with a lot of psychedelic seventies rock. This is not their first release, they have 3 full-lengths previous to this one, and only one sung entirely in English, sadly this is not that one, because this is entirely singed in Swedish, anyone kind enough to tell me the meaning of Säljer Din Själ?
Only 3 songs in this Ep, and the 3 are groovy pieces of music, the thick riffs are melodic yet psychedelic, the vocalist does a great job, somewhere I read that he sounded like a raspy Chris Cornel and to be honest with all of you, this is not far from the truth.
I'll never understand why they choose a name like Abramis Brama, (Latin word meaning bream in English), who in earth names his band after a fish??
Fishing affairs apart, I totally recommend this to fans who need to listen something a little less violent once in a while, and I know I said this before in the review, but this is totally groovy, I just can't find another word to describe this, so fans of Stoner Metal, get this one immediately, you won't regret it.
