A small preview of 2006
Another good year fades away and we're left with good and bad memories, in music, in life, in love and who knows what else. So, what does next year have in stores for us? Well, this album for starters. The first month of the year will be the witness of the rise to fame (or fall into oblivion) of Sinamore, and this, their debut album re-recorded and entitled "A New Day".
The premise is simple, catchy and melancholic Gothic Rock Metal, from the country that has spawned a lot of this kind of bands, Finland. So what's the deal with these guys, are they really that special? Not really, they play typical Gothic Metal with clean vocals, distorted guitars, catchy but melancholic choruses, perfect for your non-Metal friends.
Still, everything falls in piece here, the band members complement each other very well, the compositions are tight and well-thought, you'll find catchy hooks in almost every song, although not every track is a "hit" to say it so.
To draw a better picture of the band in your head dear reader, think of Katatonia, HIM and Charon, or if you like, I could cite the band's own description: "Katatonia meets HIM while gangbanging Bon Jovi", I don't know how accurate is this, but sure is damn funny!.
So what's in store at the beginning of the year? An enjoyable, good album if you're fan of the whole Gothic Rock / Metal scene, if the after mentioned bands are not just your cup of tea, you better just wait for the Black Metal releases next year.
