Sweden might be famous for their Gothenburg Death and Power Metal, but we also have a quite large AOR and Hard Rock scene here, Seven Wishes belongs to the latest, and with "Destination: Alive" they delivers their third album, the album that hopefully will give them the success they deserve.
After 2 less successful albums, released through a label that didn't to their job, Seven Wishes saw the end, but something happened and they signed with German MTM music and some fresh blood joined and their new album is right about to be released, talk about sudden turn.
With new guitarist Toby Andersson and drummer Lennart Karlsson, Seven Wishes are back, stronger than ever.
"Destination: Alive" is the album, as mentioned, and it's not any album. Here you'll get faster tunes mixed with slower ones, just as it should be. Catchy lyrics, melodic guitars, a singer that other bands would kill to get, that's the simple, but very effective thing about Seven Wishes.
Seven Wishes is another band that contributed on the MTM Compilation Vol.10 that I reviewed some time back, and even if the song "Cross My Heart" didn't do a real impact on me then, I have to say that it sounds much better now, I guess I just needed time to get into it.
But you should know that I didn't need that much time to really get into this album, after just the first spin I understood that this would be an album that was going to spin a lot in the future.
With songs like mentioned "Cross My Heart", "Fortuneteller" & "See Through the Lies" Seven Wishes shows that they might be one of the best Hard Rock acts in Sweden right now.
But as in all music, there are also sides that will bring evil into peoples, and I guess Seven Wishes will have to take a lot of critics as well, just for their influences, bands like Dokken and Ratt, but hopefully they won't care much and just go on creating fine music, at least that's what I hope!
Unfortunately I haven't heard their first two releases, and I fear that it will be hard to get my hands on them as well, but I will try, because after hearing "Destination: Alive" I hunger for more.
So if you're into timeless Melodic Hard Rock in the school of Dokken, Ratt, XYZ and bands alike, I strongly recommend Seven Wishes for you, their new album "Destination: Alive" is what you wanted for many years, but never could find.
Check Out: "Cross My Heart", "Fortuneteller", "Time to Say Goodbye", "See Through the Lies" & "Gone Like the Wind".
