I Don't Hate Brutal Death Metal - Part Deux

Continuing with this week's epic saga, we got from Chile this album: Defacing "Spitting Savagery" debut album from my country neighbors. The first thing you'll notice is the band members names, or should I say, pseudonyms. While we're used to the usual Metal pseudonyms like the gory ones like, "Bonecrusher" , the satanic ones like Christkiller" or the unpronounceable ones like "Shrughrtuthiumius" , we got a new breed here with Defacing, cartoons pseudonyms!, SO evil, how come nobody came up with that earlier? So with no further ado I must give a warm welcome to our pages to Claudio Popeye Old Seawolf! (insert clapping here) and his band: Juan Corp, Edvile, Splattered Diego and Jose Fekalizator.

As I said before, they come from Chile and they play Brutal Death Metal! Genre that I don't hate. So what we get with this album? Insanely fast drumming, undecipherable vocals, rabid riffing and gory lyrics, or should I say song titles? (I didn't got one single word out of the growls).

I have to be frank with all of you, this record wasn't spectacular, neither ground-breaking or creative in some sort of way. Is just Brutal Death Metal, you don't need big reviews and exhaustive analysis with this particular genre, it just comes, punches you in the face and goes away. As simple as that, for those trying to understand the genre, you're wasting your time, just listen, don't think.

Good thing about the record? Drumming is amazing, god this guy is good! He can batter the drums without the aid of double bass, riffing is ok also, I liked guitars in "Captive In Agony" and loved drums in "Flagellated By Insanity".
Bad thing about the record? I can't stand those undecipherable vocals, I don't have anything against growls but listening grrrrunnnntt grrrooorfffff growwwwwwwffffooo the whole freakin´ time? No way Jose.

Musically speaking this record will please all you brutal freaks out there. For those against cookie monster growls, stay away from this one. For those who really like not knowing what the guy sings about, this is for you, I guess it gives a touch of mystery not understanding a single word the vocalist say? Go Popeye!
