"Reincarnation" is the first album of the Swedish duet StoneLake composed of Peter Grundström (vocals) and Jan Akesson (Guitars). The band chose to play a classic Melodic Hard Rock, a music that was in the trend during the 80's and the beginning of the 90's and actually it can be a good thing to have the luck to find this kind of music nowadays. If you was a fan, you know what you'll have to do then?
"Reincarnation" is not a bad album, at the opposite, and in the style actually we have a ncie performance of our 2 Swedish musicians. The songs are good with this little emotive spirit that we was able to find in the past (that's not really the case today) with bands like Bon Jovie for example. The recipe is simple, some nice melodic vocals with great melodic riffs and then good melodies, some speedy songs and a lot of ballads and mid-tempo compositions and you can understand how it sounds. That's not a problem to listen to this album at the opposite, the songs are well done and it will be a great surprise for the nostalgic that you are.
However there is a big problem with this album, the production. Yes, that's really average actually and a lot of time it's even impossible to hear all the numerous sounds of the guitars. I know and I'm sure that it only comes from some financial problems (like a lot of bands actually) but that's a shame because we just lose a lot and its' not really easy to listen to it in reason of a lot of little noises due to the saturation of the recording.
As you can understand we have on a side a good album of Melodic Hard Rock, but on the other side a really cheesy production that doesn't help it a lot. Then I really hope that StoneLake will have the luck to record their future albums with some good professional means of recording and in that case it should pay for them?
