The band of the thousand vocalists
I'm beginning to grasp on the whole intricate Dutch Gothic Metal scene, as it seems that everyone was or is going to be on the other guys band.
Let's see, Some years ago I downloaded a Demo from a Dutch band called Mythica, I was blown out by the awesome music inside of it (for those curious, a mix of Gothic and Progressive Metal). The years passed by and I found out that Mythica no longer responded to that name, the new moniker was Auracle.
Also I found out they replaced their female singer and the new one was Elizabeth Cordia, who I knew from her previous band Annatar. She did the vocal parts on this album, but she's no longer with Auracle. Her replacement is female singer Amelie.
Phew, I could play all day long six degrees of separation from Auracle with the whole Dutch Metal scene but let's get to the point, the music.
Like their previous Demo under the name of Mythica, this Cd only has 2 songs, both great pieces of Symphonic Metal.
First song "Crystal Lies" has some middle-eastern scales giving a nice oriental touch to it, I assume the band has some Egyptian concept behind their songs since the artwork features some Egyptian elements. Both female and male vocals are great I must say, they intertwine perfectly and complement each other, a truly good duet.
Next and last song "Land Of The Gods" is even more exciting than the first one, female vocals steal the show here, add some more middle-eastern scales and choirs and you got an awesome song!
I'm truly happy with this Demo, although the question is if the new singer can fill the shoes of the fantastic voice of Elizabeth Cordia, only their next release will tell. Until then, my vote goes for Auracle.
