Homicide? Surely this didn't killed me?
Homicide Haggridden is a band totally unknown to me and I bet to many of you (unless you live in Italy, then you might know this). As you might presume, the band hails from Italy, and they play modern-day Thrash Metal with a lot of Slayer influences, specially in the guitars.
Modern-day Thrash Metal? What tha' fuck are you talking about Undercraft? Well, is kind of easy, imagine those devastating Slayer riffs, combined with semi growl-ish vocals and tin can drumming (reminiscent of the infamous drumming of Lars Ulrich on "St. Anger"), in the vocal department we have also hardcore-like screams, clean backing vocals and, if I might add, powerful bass lines.
You already know the elements, but how does this sound? I must say I have mixed feelings about this, because while some tracks are quite good (take the title track for instance) others sound totally unappealing to me (like "Arena's Sky"), but in the majority of tracks you can sense the ever-present Slayer influence (take a look at "Scorn" or "Scream"), being that a good thing.
Like I said before, I have mixed feelings about this, while is not the most killer album around, it does provide some good moments. My advice? Clear the modern influences from your act, and begin taking those Slayer influences a little bit further (you got many ways to do that), hopefully these guys will read this review, and they'll understand that I'm the keeper of the truth and if they follow my advice, they'll achieve greatness. Maybe not, but is worth the shot.
