It's only a Demo?

Listening to Demos of Black and Death Metal is the worst part of being a reviewer, usually when you receive a Demo the sound quality is very poor, without mentioning the fact that most newcomers haven't polished their musical skills yet. These factors could easily be a nice recipe for a awful afternoon with a crappy Demo.

And so the day came. I received a Death Metal Demo, originally recorded on pro cassette and then transferred to Cd by Xtreem Music (Deathevokation are the latest addition to their roster), the Cd even contains the sleeve of the cassette, nice addition btw.

Deathevokation gives a nod to the Old School of Death Metal with this release, they try to emulate the bands that made the old school Death Metal scene, while they doesn't fail miserably in the attempt, I didn't find anything worth getting excited about. Just your average Death Metal record with fast sections and pounding ones.

I guess if the Demo got them a contract with Xtreem Music, some people like it, I don't find anything special about it, just Death Metal the same way thousands of band have played before, although "Embers Outro" has nice acoustic guitars and "Blood" has some interesting fast paced sections, but that's it. But since there is only 5 songs, it doesn't prove the band is crap. That my friends, we'll see when they release their first full length, until then.
