Death Metal from Central America
Time to take a look at the Central American scene, today we set our views on the beautiful Costa Rica and Death Metal combo Pseudostratiffied Epithelium.
The support and promotion Metal gets on Central and South America is quite scarce if you compare it to the European scene, this means we get less releases, less investment, and sadly, less Metal.
Pseudostratiffied Epithelium is a band that has been struggling since the beginning of the nineties, this is their second release and their debut dates from 1996. They play Death Metal. Old School, Raw Death Metal. The trio blast their way into your speakers with deep growls, sharp riffing and rapid drumming, but not all is fast and brutal here, the band leaves space for calm sections and some melodies here, which adds so much depth to the music.
Despite the below average production and sound, this album is quite enjoyable if you really like Death Metal, specially if you've been around since the eighties, since the band has a reminiscent sound of a lot of eighties Death Metal bands.
I'm going to recommend this to all lovers of Death Metal, if you can get past the bad production and less than attractive cover art, this is quite entertaining. I think is about time to show some support to the Central American scene!
