It's really a fulfilling sentiment to have this album; you will hear one of the best Old School Death Metal bands ever to step foot in this planet, a band with so many great qualities that makes me wonder why the hell they remained in the underground scene having the tools to finally become gods of the genre.
So what do we have here? One of the best albums in Death Metal history, it contains a re-mastered and fixed full length album called "Death After Death" (4-10), it also features 5 unreleased songs (11-15) which are very good by the way, but what amazed me the most were the first 3 songs, those are apparently the first tracks recorded by this band in a rehearsal (so the mix is obviously really bad) but damn they were good since then.
The music is aggressive Old School Death Metal, the kind that bands like Possessed or Morbid Angelused to play in their early days; the best part comes in the execution capabilities, these guys have a technical edge towards every track shown in this compilation; and I mean things you weren't used to hear back in the old days if you know what I mean; wrapping all those complex muscles with really catchy skin is just overwhelming, Insanity did that marvelously, all the intricate tones often have really catchy riffs and beats, if that doesn't impress you I don't know what will.
I know many of you won't actually understand the greatness of this compilation, and I fully comprehend your situation because I'm sure most of those who think this is "just another Old School act" are a bunch of conformist who weren't around in the tape-trading days, people who are now thinking "dude?like?Cannibal Corpse invented Death Metal right?" are the ones who won't realize how incredible this CD is. So I recommend all of you to get From The Grave, learn how Death Metal should sound and while you're at it try to research their biography which is really interesting by the way.
On the other hand, smart people will love this album, so I know many of you already know who Insanity is. Buy this compilation; it will literally make you feel good about yourself for having a "cult" CD in your pile; and you'll get access to a great layout as well, it contains cool pictures and two amazing commentaries written by members of Napalm Death and Exhumed.
Final Verdict: Cult band indeed; if you don't buy this compilation you must be a very weak human.
