Will you believe me if I say that we can have fantastic 70's rock bands in France? Do you believe me if I say that the GL Band is an excellent combo that plays a cool mix of Blues, Rock and Hard Rock between Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rorry Gallagher and the Stones? Maybe that some of you will be a bit doubtful but you can believe me, The GL Band with its first album just kick the ass of a lot of people. "Rock'N Roll Teacher" is an excellent surprise for me and it will be a good one for you if you like old school music.
Without any pretension our dudes, who are however people who played, just to give some few names, with some cult bands like Trust, Taxi Warning, Patrick Rondat or Mike Jones (yes yes the guy of The Clash), released a really good album of Rock. The first names that come to my mind are Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Rolling Stones. Lynyrd Skynyrd because it's obvious that they're the main influence of the band that play Southern Rock but also The Stones because the voice of Pat Llaberia is really similar to the one of Mick Jagger. But there are also some Hard Rock riffs, ok not a lot of but the music is punchy despite the fact that it's not Heavy evidently. The songs are well written and at the end, it's just easy to remind the melodies and it's evidently the mark of the great musicians.
So ok in general their music is soft and it's more Bluesy Southern Rock than anything else but the production is perfect and I don't even have to talk about the quality of the writings. No really The GL Band released an excellent album that ALL the fans of the style will probably find amazing.
This album is a release made by a bunch of friends who just wanted to take a lot of pleasure doing music. Without any pretensions and without anything to prove anyway, our guys just released and excellent album that ALL the fans of the style will enjoy immediately after 10 sec of listening. A good album nothing to add except maybe a big "Rock 'N' Roll !".
