When a band is as underground but as good as Cripple Bastards there are a lot of things to say; I have limited space so I'll just start typing.
This is an old band actually; many of you are not familiar with the name of course, but that just means that you live in a moistened cavern with nothing but a couple of imaginary friends who do not like metal whatsoever, that or you actually like metal but the "gay" kind (I'm thinking of H.I.M by the way). Cripple Bastards are one of the best grinding acts hailing from Italy, they are more o less the epitome of "violence" in the scene; to give you a small hint these Italians play a weird mixture of Cephalic Carnage's structures, Terrorizer's undertones, bizarre vocals and a couple of extra "untitled" features.
Now to the album on the table; Desperately Insensitive was released back in 2003 if I'm not mistaken, but now Obscene Productions re-issued this CD and added 17 live tracks taken from the Obscene Extreme Festival (2003). This album is not their biggest most amazing release to date, I'm just being perfectly honest believe me, Cripple Bastards released a legendary album called Your Lies In Check not to mention the overwhelming compilation released by Obscene Productions back in 2001 (called Almost Human) featuring 50 tracks in one CD.
Desperately Insensitive is still a great album; the music presented here will grab you by the nuts while the concept and lyrics will crush your brain consequently. From the plateau I'm standing right now I don't see another band doing music as aggressive, chaotic or as violent as the one found in this record (not to be confused with brutality or hostility though). It is a "hard-to-digest" album of course as the patterns may become a little repetitive or tedious, but after digging the album more and more you'll find that most of the songs (if not all) have at least one good moment to highlight.
For the ones who don't know this band, buy this album immediately, please pay attention to Partner Della Convenienza because I'm sure you haven't heard a Grinding song as great as this one. For every fanatic of the band this is still a decent purchase, it is not their biggest masterpiece but you'll be pleased no doubt, and the live section makes this album totally buyable even if you already have the 2003 edition. So here it is? Cripple Bastards ladies and gentlemen, do your homework and then you'll know what I mean.
Best Tracks: "Fear In The Squats of the Dead", "Partner Della Convenienza", "Being Ripped Off in 2002".
