Lately I've reviewed a couple of Mexican albums which happen to be very good actually; I still toss my Soulburner, Semen and Oxidised Razor CD's in my stereo regularly while my neighbors call the cops. So here you have another Mexican band doing Death Metal in the vein of Brujería and Asesino, they call themselves Denigrare and they bombarded us with their brand new release "Venganza".

This album is for Denigrare what "Chronic Corpora Infest" was for Disgorge; the Mexican growlers marked their place in the scene with "Chronic?" as a Carcass-worship band right? Now, Venganza is marking their spot as a Brujeria-worship band as we speak. The whole album shows a scheme heavily influenced by the aforementioned band, the vocalist sounds exactly like "Juan Brujo" and the lyrical concept doesn't help at all as it's also really similar to the Brujeria format. Fortunately the music varies enough to say this isn't a rip-off band; you'll even find some electro-remixes of the songs in the bonus material and a couple of complex approaches in the breakdowns.

The production is another turn-off; the bass-lines and the guitar-riffs are drowned in the mix, the sound is muddy as hell and the lower tones (including the toms and bass) disappear in the middle of the tracks. Even with the production problems, the music manages to sound powerful and extreme, the intensity of the melodies is really impressive and the final product sounds quite decent in the end.

As I said before, this record will do what "Chronic?" did for Disgorge; right after the release of "Chronic?" Disgorge polished their sound and started writing fresher songs and voilá 2 albums later "Necroholocaust" appeared and crushed the brains out of the listeners all over the globe. So, if Denigrare starts doing the same thing, they'll surely release a good album in the future, so?please stay tuned.
