Brennus Music is well known for two things. First, they're able to find and launch amazing newcomers from France but they also give chances to old-school formations, especially to Hard Rock ones. We had some bands like Wild West in the past, now this is the turn of Solid State to its first album on the French label. As you can already understand, you'll not be able to find something new with this album but if you like Hard FM, maybe that you'll like this "Deep Side Of The Tube"?
"Deep Side Of The Tube" is influenced by US music, from Deep Purple to Bon Jovi, Offspring and finally Extreme. If some of you remember the cult Pornograffiti they will be able to find the same kind of music in this release (without its power and technicality however) especially with some of the vocals which use this kind of "funky" attitude. But well, it's also Hard FM, and if you are a fan of Bon Jovi and like melodic catchy (and commercial) choruses, you'll probably like this release. Though I must add however, that this release is for the ones who were fans of the "sweet" Hard that we were able to listen to at the end of the 80's and during the 90's.
If I didn't find anything wrong on this release, I didn't find anything new too. The amateurs of the genre will probably find some good things on "Deep Side Of The Tube" but they will not find anything new and even if the musicians are good, even if the songs aren't bad, someone who is into the different new forms of Metal will probably find it a bit boring at the end. With "Deep Side Of The Tube", really it's a matter of taste and nostalgia before anything else?
With "Deep Side Of The Tube", we're in front of a well-realized album which, unfortunately, will not help a lot for the rebirth of this style. It's not bad but a bit uncolored and only the ones who listen to a lot of Hard FM will find a real interest in this release. Recommended for the fans of the style.
