"Oppressed / Deformed" is the new album of the really good French band DSK. The band chose to follow its road into the world of Extreme music with a new album especially made for the ones who like Death, Grind or even Hardcore? Be prepare for a music violent and vicious?

The music of DSK is a good mix of Death Metal (you'll be able to find the violence of the Death Metal riffs), Hardcore (with it's powerful frenetic rhythms) and finally Grind (with its hysteric side). It's a nice mix really and the music of the album is well done. The different songs will all found a way to catch your attention (if you like extreme music of course) first because DSK wrote catchy stuff but also because we always have this "sweet" violence in all the songs that will please the entire Death Metal lover. But you must remember also that DSK is not a band which plays old school music, it's more like a modern Death and on a way I think that it can be something good that can help to change a bit the monotonous trend that we have nowadays.

On the other hand and to be honest, the album was a bit boring for me at the end. I mean that we have a lot of good passages but (and of course it's a personal feeling) it's always a bit the same too. Plus personally I have a lot of difficulties to listen to Grind vocals at the opposite of strong Death ones. So, to sum up, Grind Metalheads will not be really disturbed by this album when classic Death Metal lovers will maybe find it boring at the end?

It will be a matter of taste. If you like violent Death Metal which flirt with Grincore and if you like Grind vocals, I believe that you'll be able to like "Oppressed / Deformed". It's a solid album of Death Metal without any doubt and DSK is still improving its music. On the other hand, it's something for the aficionados, I mean that I like classic Death but I don't like Grind and it was a bit hard for me at the end. But as I said, it's a matter of taste, and anyway "Oppressed / Deformed" is nonetheless a good release which confirms all the qualities of DSK.
