A crazy cover, some good old Hard Rock riffs, a cool old school "Rock N Roll" spirit, hum that's right, we're in front of a pure Hard Rock band? from France. Pyro is not a newcomer and they already have three albums (their first one was released in 1992). "Stab In The Back", their new one is not so different of the previous albums execpt maybe that it's a bit more modern. We don't have anything new musicaly speaking but it's always cool to listen to such music.

"Stab In The Back" is a pure album of Hard Rock. Between bluesy Hard Rock a la AC/DC and pure Hard FM a la Bon Jovi, this release features some cool songs. The musicians are good too, not genius maybe but they know how to give some good feelings through their different instruments. It's maybe funny to see that a French band plays some US music that's right but here they guys are able to do it good. We don't have some real hits on the CD but songs like "Fuel My Engine" or "Stab In The Back" don't lack of energy and all in all, the album is not disproportioned. From the beginning to the hand, we maybe don't have amazing things but we always have good music.

Of course, the main problem of the release is its big lacks of originality and personality. It's hard to blame the band because the songs aren't bad at all but yes, let's be honest we've heard it all before. You see what I mean? However despite this big lacks of originality "Stab In The Back" is not displeasing really and if you like "old school music" it should be ok for you. Plus, the production is more than correct and I really like the crazy and not serious cover of the album.

"Stab In The Back" is a little album without any pretentions. It's not revolutionary, not at all, but we have some cool songs in this release, and it's never boring (at least in my case) to listen to Hard Rock anyway. No my friends, Hard Rock is not dead yet, and if you want to have some good sound in your car for your Saturday night adventures with your mates, "Stab In The Back" is for you!
