This Italian Trinakrius play a cross between Heavy and Doom and have just seen their 2004 re-released by PsycheDOOMelic Records. I have not heard the original demo, but I'm glad it got reissued, because this isn't bad stuff at all.
The demo seems to have eleven new tracks at first, but actually there only four 'original' songs. The intro "Inquisantism", is a gloomy spoken lecture about life in the middle ages, then the band gives us four songs of their own, followed by a Priest cover of "Love Bites", and then they repeat the entire bunch in their own language (with the exception of the cover song).
The high-pitched vocals sometimes remind me of Metal Church's work, though obviously not as amazing and sometimes even a bit weak. Their guitarwork is much more influenced by traditional doom, constantly shifting between an 'Epic' Doom approach and more down-to-earth Heavy Metal riffing. Francesco and Ezio, the ones responsible for the six-stringed savaging are definitely the ones that keep this otherwise unoriginal and average album interesting for another spin.
This demo is rather enjoyable, it is just a shame that because of the doubled tracklist it'll probably run for the price of a normal cd, but this band definitely deserves to be kept an eye on in the future. A couple of downsides are that they haven't grown to full potential just yet and that this is only a demo. Fans of Metal Church's epic God's Of Wrath should give this a shot.
