Headhunter was created in 1990 by Jorg Michael, Uwe Hoffmann and Marcel Schirmer, when he was fired of Destruction. Eighteen years later and despite the fact that Schirmer plays again with Destruction, the band is still alive and still release albums. Sure they're not so prolific but they're active and "Paradise Of Society", their fourth album is a good surprise. I think that all the fans of Thrash, Power and Heavy (a la Motörhead) should have a look on this album asap, it simply rocks.

I'm not a big fan of Destruction (I'm not saying that I don't like them too!) and if I have to be honest I think that I clearly prefer Schmier's performance with Headhunter. Why? Well obviously the music of Headhunter is a lot more melodic and clearly flirts with the music of Metallica and Megadeth when they have started to do "melodic" Thrash. Headhunter's music is not Thrash, this is not Heavy, this is not Power but a good mix of these three musical genres and here, this is perfectly done. All in all, the album is a really good release of melodic Metal with the energy of Thrash Metal and the melodies of Power and Heavy metal. The voice of Schmier is even less aggressive and more melodic, don't worry he is not a new Power Metal singer but that's different and give something new in his way to sing Metal, that's original. "Paradise Of Society" is full of real Metal anthems and for sure it will kick some asses if the band decide to play live.

"Paradise Of Society" was made in Germany which means that the production is perfect so don't worry you'll not have any problem with some kind of hypothetical recording problems. The album doesn't give something really new but at least it's not so common to listen to a good mix of these different Metal genres. Definitely, "Paradise Of Society" should be appreciated by all the metalheads who are not Metal fundamentalist and who are a bit open minded. With "Paradise Of Society" be sure that you'll listen to good melodies with strong riffs and vocals, real Power Metal with balls (the people who use to listen to US Power should like this album in my opinion).

I like the spirit of this album, I like this good crossover between different Metal genres and I'm happy that Headhunter comes back this year with this new release. For sure they don't have a lot of releases despite their age but at least they don't produce shit. If you like angry Heavy Metal, please check this album as soon as possible or you'll miss something.
