01. Breed The Lies
02. Recaptured Sanity
03. Path Of Anguish
04. Odium

A surprisingly good album.

This band had been well on it's way to be "the band" in the Icelandic metal scene and they probably were, almost every place they played on was packed. What caught everyones eyes was with every new member something new and awesome was introduced both in their sound and the way they performed. Something was really changing with this band, the new songs they were introducing live were way, way heavier than anything they had done before, contributing to the rumor that the band had actually left it's thrash metal roots.

Most of what is done in this album is done quite well, the lyrics probably could've been better, but that seems to be the main problem in most of the Icelandic bands. In terms of music the album is surprisingly strong, and the album seems to get better and better with each song, not to mention the quality of sound really ads to the feel of each song. What I found to be really interesting is the experimental approach in their music, that's probably the strongest side of their music. And how they go from extremely hard riffs, to a short and soft melody as a bridge to another extreme riff, like they do on "Recaptured Sanity" is well done, of course you can find bands that do this way better. "Path of Anguish" and "Odium" are probably the strongest songs on the album, well at least those songs had more affects on me than the other two, but all the songs are surprisingly good it's really hard to believe that they were just experimenting with themselves on this album.

The vocalist can be very pleased with his performance on this album, the vocals are really strong and work quite nicely with their new sound. He delivers powerful screams both high and deep, the fact that it's hard to understand him give his vocals almost an instrument kind of feel to the songs, some may find that to be bad or boring, I actually found it adding to the overall experience on this album. There really doesn't seem to be any serious flaws, well one could ask for more songs, only four songs is the only setback I can think of, cause my experience of this album is that I actually wanted more. Maybe that was their original goal, getting the listener interested and wanting more, the fact that the band disbanded shortly after releasing this album (a year later) while they were working hard on their next full length is a little sad, cause this EP serves as a really good starter for a full length.

This probably isn't the most original death metal album you can find, but every song has it's own unique touch and each song provides a different experience, which I find to be a very good side in every band. I guess those who are really into death metal will find this album to be interesting, at least wouldn't feel they have completely wasted their money.
