Dadabovic is the name of a funny band from the north of France. This is also the name of the leader who "is" also the main character of Carbamazépine, their first album? A bit like Ultra Vomit, Dadabovic is one of those 2nd degree French band which plays a mix of Hardcore, Death and a lot of other kind of music. We cannot say that it's the best music ever released but the spirit is cool and at least it always works live!

Carbamazépine is a concept album and is about the life of Dr Dadabovic, the boss of an asylum! Every song of the album talks about a patient like one of the members of the staff of this hospital! The stories are "stupid" and funny and the band managed to create a real atmosphere all along the album. This is cool, absolutely 2nd degree and funny if you understand French! Not really vulgar, Carbamazépine is an album that a lot of people, if they're a bit open minded, could enjoy! Musically speaking this is not extremely complex. The riffs are a bit easy and repetitive but the bass is powerful with a lot of technical parts. The melodies are just a bit monotonous in the end and not especially catchy but the songs are powerful and if you like Hardcore mixed with Death Metal and even Grind, it should be ok!

The album was released in 2007 but Thundering records & Co propose it again to touch a larger audience. This is not a bad idea because the concept is cool and should work now that Ultra Vomit opened the door of popularity for all this scene. The recording is ok and it's cool to see that the band uses all the imagery of the concept on their photos and website.

On a musical side, Carbamazépine is not the most impressive album but it's solid in the genre and I say it one more time, its concept and lyrics are cool. Dadabovic is something really "French" and the album will lose 70% of its interest if you don't understand our language. On the other hand if you like the genre, Carbamazépine is nice, not as good and funny as some of the stuff that we have seen lately but good enough to be listened!
