Close To Dawn is already the third album of KOB, a French band which is not particularly known here but, like a lot of Metal and Hard Rock bands, play a lot in pubs and small venues and strongly believe in what they do. This is one of the reasons why I always really respect all those bands which are not so famous finally but who deserve some words and of course, a lot of respect. With Close To Dawn proposes a simple but nice 80's melodic Hard Rock which will not be revolutionary but which should be enjoyed by the fans of the genre.

The first thing that I have to admit is that Nicolas Blaizeau is a really good singer. His voice is classy in the same way than the ones of a lot of great 80's singers (no need to give names one more time.). He has good groove and his vocals fit perfectly to the nice melodic guitars riffs. Close To Dawn is not a bad release and the melodies are catchy all in all but of course the band just play something which has already be done a lot of time in the past. I have the feeling that our guys just have fun playing music and nothing more. I like it actually, after all that's probably the best reason to play music but on the other hand they probably know too that they cannot surprise us playing old school Hard Rock without taking any risks? As I already said, this is a good album without any pretentions but it's without any pretentions too? you see what I mean, be sure that you'll listen to good music but your ass will not be kicked?

I have to add nonetheless that the album is well produced and that the band had the good idea to work with a real designer who has created a really nice and professional artwork which is absolutely better than the tons of clichés that we can usually see in the genre. KOB is just a professional band with good tastes and that's good to see that nowadays.

Nothing to add, Close To Dawn is not a revelation but it's a good release played by a good band. I cannot ask you all to check this album because after we have choices to do but if you like melodic Hard Rock, you can have a look at it and you'll discover a really honest combo.
