Sacred Legacy is a band that offers a surprisingly unique sound despite their unbelievably forgettable name. On a musical level, Sacred Legacy could be onto something - it starts off as a really nice melodeath/extreme power metal sound. The first song is actually extremely enjoyable, it's sharp and aggressive, a touch of rawness, with some evil sounding melodies on top.

...Then the whole album does a full-fledged nose dive.

Inconsistent doesn't even begin to describe Undying Heart. It's taboo to place an instrumental song as track two on your album for a reason - it's meant to cool things off a little bit, kind of that slight dip in your climactic moments before you finalize everything with some great outro to get people coming back for more. These instrumentals aren't what you'd call eye-opening by any stretch, so why do they seem to dominate a good majority of the album? Well, the vocalist is entirely incapable. It's hard to say exactly how incapable because of the out of place vocal distortion being used constantly. Well, the only thing that remains consistent on this album is the inconsistency itself, right to the end. They decide to create their own version of "...and now for something completely different" to close the album; some cheesy instrumental track that would suit an Air Supply album pretty well, then another version of the same song, this time with some forgettable melodic vocals.

One really solid song followed by a horribly thrown-together excuse for an album? Shit Sacred Legacy, get it together.

Everything he doesn't like is metalcore. Britney Spears, Elton John, Michael Moore, and green beans are also metalcore, in case you guys didn't know.

It's a 2008 release, and I updated the tracklist accordingly. Was it re-released or did they just want you to review this before their new album comes out?

Either way, a band from Maldives? Not surprising that they aren't consistent. What kind of scene do they have over there anyway?

http://www.metal-archives.com/lists/MV - turns out, not much of one at all.

Wow! Now that is the nearest you can be to ethnocentrism and xenophobia...This as nothing to do with the quality of the music...They could come from anywhere and release a bad album... Troy you should really think twice before posting such bullshit comments as you are a member of the staff on this website.

A bit touchy today are we? Maybe I missed something but it would seem that you are in fact overacting to a simple statement perhaps?

Well, let's see what I said, Shall we? I quote "Wow, what a terrible thing to say!". Now, if you believe that I made a mountain out of a molehill by saying that then let me just say that I respectfully disagree. Actually, even if Troy's comment wasn't scathing enough to raise a few eyebrows, the reason why I reacted with an innocuous tiny message is to peacefully express my astonishment of his post, nothing more nothing less. Even if Troy didn't mean anything, it will inevitably hurt Maldives' people. I wouldn't even bother replying to the same comment, had it been written by an ordinary member. Troy is still young and that's understandable but a staff member is a staff member, whether you're 13 or 100, you're here to set a good example of how MSers should deal with similar situations. Seriously, I'm not angry or anything, he's a fine member though but let's just hope by having this discussion today, other members won't do the same from this point on. And I agree with Troy, Maldives' metal scene seems to be modestly meagre with just few active metal bands (this is of course according to MA) just like my own country and many more, but quantity doesn't mean quality and even if they seem struggling to "impress" us, we should still cheer them up, given their relatively modest metal culture. Good luck Sacred Legacy! I hope you'll redeem yourselves with your upcoming record. If you didn't, keep trying . Again, I didn't mean to upset anyone with my 7-word comment .

That is bizarre. The press release I got said April 4th, 2011. Fuck them for wasting my time.

Ummm, guys, in a country with no metal scene, it's no wonder that the bands suck at first (hell, here in Serbia there's only a couple good bands, a few dozen not so good and a hundred amateurs who don't make it to a demo, let alone a full length thing, and more than 20 years passed since the forming of the first metal band here). It's not ethnocentrism, it's just that some nations haven't got experience in doing some stuff. It's like he said Andorra doesn't have a good soccer team-would that be a horrible thing to say considering the size of the nation?

Really? That's the nearest you can get? I'm just going to let you think over that for a minute and hopefully you'll realize how ludicrous a statement that is.

Good? Good.

You should think twice before you whine about my apparent xenophobia. Don't put words in my mouth or take my comment out of context. What I was implying is that Maldives is not known for its metal scene, therefore I was not surprised that this album wasn't good. I won't apologize for that, and I don't believe it is a bullshit comment. And, in this case, it has a little to do with the quality of the music, although obviously there are exceptions to that rule.

I'd say the same thing about any other country with a non-existent metal scene if I were 20 years older. I don't need people on here making excuses for me in regards to my comments.

You say I came close to being xenophobic... Maybe I'm a victim of ageism?

I didn't say you were xenophobic, as a matter of fact, I didn't call you anything. You got confused apparently. I only said that it was a terrible thing to say. But, You're entitled to your own opinion and there's nothing wrong with that. I just felt I should point it out for the sake of it.

Anyway, I shouldn't have said anything in the first place, you can say whatever you want.

Now, we should really stop trolling .

I like Nothnegal though, the melodic death/black metalband from Maldives.

I still think your comment was out of place and totally stupid... But I'd like to emphasize the fact that I attacked the comment you wrote not you personnally. Yet I don't think I "whined" as whining to me is complaining without a serious basis. I don't think you should dis a scene because it is small or coming from a small country. You are a member of the staff on this site and should not laugh at any metal scene cause it undermines your objectivity and you could regret it someday. But hey I didn't want to start a big mess with that comment...

This is the last thing I'll say on the matter: I wasn't dissing Maldives or the band because they're from Maldives - I was merely pointing out the almost non-existent metal scene there and how that in all probability relates to a local band's inconsistent album.

When an artist starts doing something new, it's bound to be met with criticism. When more artists pick up where the original artists left off, the scene starts to grow. Then you'll find bands learning from each other and growing together, thus creating a stronger scene collectively. Then the scene branches out and expands, becoming a superpower. This is the case for a lot of countries in terms of their metal scenes. Maldives just happens to be in the beginning stages of that process.
