Nice list even though Paradise Lost - Shades Of God and Sepultura - Arise are of course not death metal. Merciless is mostly thrash imo, but I can see why you put it here.

Question though why is Incubus - Beyond The Unknown listed here as an album by Opprobrium?
The band changed their name in 1999 so 9 years after the release of the album.

Thanks! Still new to the genre but these are definitely my favourites so far. Thought Sepultura was death/thrash on their earlier albums though

As for Incubus, I put them as Opprobrium because putting 'Incubus' here would link to that other US band.
