Yeah, I can never understand people who think Opeth's golden era albums are overrated. If Opeth's very progressive apporach to death-ish metal isn't one's cup of tea, I suppose I get that, but Blackwater Park's title track alone is a monumental achievement where one masterfully crafted killer riff follows another and then another etc. In a world where several Hammerfall albums have an average rating of 8+, how are masterpieces like Blackwater Park overrated???
Such claims remind me of how people who love movies and bash (rightfully so I might add) on Michael Bay and Zack Snyder then turn around and call things like Donnie Darko, Drive, Nightcrawler etc and also LOTR or even some Christopher Nolan films overrated. The difference in quality between something like Man Of Steel and Inception or Transformers and The Fellowship Of The Ring is so gigantic that if one is to be considered trash, then the other deserves pretty much all the praise it gets.
IDK... maybe I am just biased because of all the pure unadulterated passion I feel for 90s and 2000s Opeth.
