Now this --for me-- is the best year metal has ever seen, by more than a margin. It was metal's 3rd peak year (after 1986 and 1990), and it was its last one. In my books I find 7 out of the 32 ten ratings, which I have given so far, alone in this year. In no other year I have so many ten ratings.

Back at the time this was the year I finally fell in love with death doom, some gothic and some doom metal. Beforehand I spent my first 3 years in metal mostly sticking to death, heavy, and thrash metal.
This is probably the reason why it is my favourite year for metal. Worshiping many subgenres at once, plus love at first sight.

Such an underrated year in metal, some of the best albums ever were released in this year, and alot of diversity too, I would say this is my second favourite year behind 1990.
