Rabbit... is too high. probably my least favorite album from Helloween.
My God-Given Right is not so bad. I thought it's a fun listen.

Also I think Walls of Jericho is better (for lack of a better word) than anything they did with Andi Deris, also quite ground-breaking (IMO) when it came out.

I love Walls of Jericho and would like to have rated it higher but I think the songs by Weikath aren't that great, they're solid but not as brilliant as the ones by Kai.

Oh, Rabbit as their worst? I think most of the songs on it are good and often better than that. Compared to most of their later albums which have a lot of songs I can't remember a single note from

I gave it another chance recently, very tedious, nothing special for me. Gambling... was a grower, go figure.

Keeper of the Seven Keys are easily top two.

Everything else can get bent.

I definitely agree with My God-Given Right's rank. As for the rest, they have a lot of ok-ish albums with largely arbitrary mid-field ranks. But I will never understand how people would rank any of their albums higher than Keeper l and ll, Walls Of Jericho, and the s/t EP -- such classic material.

I agree with you I simply can't get it. I love Helloween's discography but not seeing the Keepers in 1st and 2nd (whatever the order for those) is fucking puzzling to me.

I understand the love for part 1, that one is amazing for the most part. Very close to a 9 in my book. But I have never understood the praise for part 2. Extremly influential album but for me nothing on side A could be considered great. Side B is a whole lot stronger but it's too little too late. Back in the beginning Kai was a incredibly gifted writer but neither Weikath or Kiske wasn't that strong at that point, which shows with Keepers 2, where again Kai wrote most of the best material. A bit later in the career Weikath got better along with three other writers (Deris, Kusch and Grapow) who contributed strong all over the albums.

And then there's also Kiske. A occasionally excellent singer but his strong side IMO is singing melodic mid-paced stuff rather than the fast paced power metal. I thought the more rough Deris was a more suitable choice (even if Kai is by far my favourite of the three).

I'm with you on your placement for Better Than Raw. Perfect album IMO. Though you're probably gonna hate me for saying this, but I actually gave their self-titled my number 1 Helloween slot. Excellent recalling of all their stylistic choices over the decades, and very consistent.

For me Walls Of Jericho would be number one, followed by Keeper I, then Keeper II. No idea how I would rank the rest

I agree, but then again, everyone is entitled to an opinion. If I did such a ranking, Chameleon would be top 7 or something.

I wouldn't say that's controversial... The Dark Ride is often highly regarded.

Better Than Raw is actually the only album I like from them, outside of a few other songs.
