New single, sounds amazing, looking forward to this one!

I miss the dense atmosphere that used to be in all the Nile albums. Lately they been pure brutal tech death instead of atmospheric brutal tech death. The Egyptian atmosphere is what made them so unique imo.

Agreed 100%, the first four Nile albums are still the best

I'll probably be checking this out just out of sheer curiosity but after relatively average albums like At The Gate Of Sethu and the last one, can't say my expectations for it are that high.

If I get something as half as good as TWTGD I'll be happy.

Hopefully they will have a least one song that harkens back back to golden age Nile. I thought " In The Name Of Amun" off of thier last album is one of their greatest songs ever. It's got it all in regards to both dense and horrific atmosphere and technical acumen. Unfortunately, the rest of album lacks the same quality of atmosphere.

I've become less and less excited about every Nile release since they began. For me Catacombs is still their best and I know they're never going to recapture that.

This "seems" like a good Nile album, but... Nothing sticks out to me. I'll give it a few more spins. The riffs are there. The atmosphere is there. The chug chug of the riffs is there. But I dunno... Maybe I've just lost the appeal. That being said, Annihilation of the Wicked still slaps even after all these years.

They probably don't want to recapture it

Although i agree with the many times repeated premise of the initial 4 releases of the band being their best work and latest releases shedding their skins of Brutal Death Metal and turning the band into more of a Tech Death band, i think they're pulling it off perfectly in their own unique way.

I enjoy their take on Technical Death Metal although i do not agree with the Egyptian Mythology sound disappearing, i can agree that they are scarcer in the recent offerings.

If i want to have the murky feeling of Catacombs or In their Darkened Shrines i can listen to them. It does not take away from the joy i get from listening their new releases.

I got a headache trying to follow the "melody" on this one. Feels disjointed most of the time. I also miss the Nile atmosphere.

Catacombs is great.
Saying it is better than Darkened Shrines, Annihilation, or Those Whom the Gods Detest is...well...that's an interesting perspective. Can't blame you for loving Catacombs though, no doubt
