How I yearn for the days when Insomnium felt fresh and interesting. I still don't understand why they need three guitarists. They were writing better stuff fifteen years ago with two.

Written by Kevorkian on 19.03.2021 at 07:01 Friman is unfortunately more geared towards his researcher career these days, which is mostly why they brought Liimatainen in. Friman has been the clear driving force alongside Sevänen and now they're in danger of slipping into decline. This one is credited to Vanhala and Sevänen, and I assume the former wrote the music while the latter is behind the lyrics.

19.03.2021 - 19:31 Written by Risto on 19.03.2021 at 13:19 That makes sense, especially if Friman's career interferes with his ability to play live. It's just a shame to hear three guitars in recordings and feel like that third guitar is a waste because it doesn't contribute anything meaningful to the songs. At least that's been my impression with most of their new stuff.

Being a researcher and a non-professional composer by myself I find it extremely difficult to hold a career in both. This is why the second part goes back and I completely understand Ville. Without Ville 100% active the results are mediocre and it happened right after the new guitarist joined. I also believe the certain guitarist is irrelevant with Insomnium compositions. It is extremely frustrating for me to stop enjoying new releases of my favorite band and I totally believe this has to do with Ville's lack of participation.

20.03.2021 - 20:18 Rating: 6 Written by Reaper_Redeemer on 20.03.2021 at 09:18 Liimatainen is solely credited for Mute Is My Sorrow, and he co-wrote two other songs on Heart Like a Grave. So far it's been pretty hit and miss.

20.03.2021 - 20:30 Rating: 6 Written by Risto on 20.03.2021 at 20:18 I know, I strongly disliked it without knowing who is behind. It is just a personal opinion but when I learnt that Insomnium got as lineup member Liimatainen my jaw dropped to the ground from intolerance. I am a huge fan of Insomnium since the first album, but I cannot follow them in their latest releases. It was just some shinings in Heart Like A Grave. Vanhala is a favorite guitarist of mine, but I do not like that he steps with one foot in Insomnium and the other one in OG.

12.04.2021 - 07:59 Written by Charlotbk on 31.03.2021 at 21:48 That's true, Winter's Gate was solid, as long as you don't read the short story on which it was based. That is a train wreck. Apparently it is award-winning, but I can't even begin to tell you why. I guess I just mean that, other than when they have occasional flashes of inspiration, their music has begun to slowly feel more and more stale and rehashed as the years go by. This single just doesn't bring anything new or interesting to the table, in my opinion. Then again, they've built quite a following for themselves with their current trajectory, so maybe they're just content with staying the course and continuing to make more of what they know sells.
