If Caligula was the bloody revenge flick, Dinner Get Ready is the folk horror one. And it can also act as a drinking game where you take a shot every time "Jesus" is mentioned.

Rarely do I use the "thumbs up" feature but this was on point.

Of course most people on here can't appreciate this masterpiece.

I don't know what you think you're implying here but considering more than half the people who've voted on this rated it an 8 or better, I'd say it's been pretty well received.

Probably my favorite album of the year thus far, though I can see why it would be divisive.

If anything makes me curious about an album it's seeing a bunch of very high and a bunch of very low ratings in the comments.

Holy shit this is terrible. Listening to this genuinely gave me a slight headache. The only nice moment in this whole album was the violin part in "Man Is Like A Spring Flower". The rest is just painful to listen to.

Also it is such a stretch to even have this on this site...I mean where is the metal? Is anything that is remotely dissonant and has some occasional screaming considered metal now?

Better not challenge him, Radu.
Like most maniacs, and especially the blasphemous ones, he has the evil eye and he most definitely learned voodoo down there in Nicaragua and Venezuela. Just one wrong word and he may once again turn us all into Marxist feminazis with monkey ears.

It's like the band wanted to be the soundtrack of Vagina Monologues being performed as slam poetry during a Satanic Mass... in Portland.

holy shit.
What a way of words, I admire the creativity, that was pretty brutal.

I appreciated how the last one flowed if that makes sense. Yeahhh...This one is straight-up hipster fodder bait albeit the art, font straight from witch-house (lol), strings reverberations, and vocals into occasional drone territory are all redeeming aspects but the songwriting absolutely falls flat into making this painfully directionless into tedious.

Directionless isn't inherently bad yet it uncommonly plays into the stereotype of showing the limits ironically what most experimental/underground artists can be without having no self-awareness. This is no different from metal scenes taking the art away from 'teh scene' and expecting it to thrive but I digress.

I tried to come in with an open mind seeing the divided comments and I can only say that I was thoroughly annoyed by the music and often had to restrain myself from stopping it before the end...
I can see the hipster appeal but there's basically no songwriting on this album, only hipster meandering

I have to stop subjecting myself to Lingua Ignota. Why do I keep trying thinking it will be better? What’s wrong with me? Am I a sadist?

This album suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks

It's amazing how divided the ratings are for this album, some say it's pure shit, and some love it, it makes me even more curious to find out for myself.

Yeah the reactions are a bit weird: it's not like Bisch Bosch or any super experimental, unmelodic stuff.

I'm not exactly the target audience, because I don't really care about lyrics in my music (ironic, considering a lot of my favorite artists are singer-songwriters who probably think their lyrics are a big part of the whole). But I find it hard to understand what's so divisive about the music. It sounds... nice. She's got a great voice, there are some good melodies and beautiful instrumentation, as well as some juicy contrasts with the abrasive bits.

I would think something like Nico and Diamanda Galas are universally loved here, and is this so very different? (Or Menace Ruine, funeral doom, neofolk, late 90s Swans and Jarboe, or Sopor Aeternus, for that matter.)

Pennsylvania Furnace is, at heart, a very conventional song, no way to accuse it of aimlessness. My favorite from her so far. The Order of Spiritual Virgins is fantastically Nico, and the one-two punch of normalcy between Perpetual Flame of Centralia and Man is Like a Spring Flower is pretty good.

It's probably a 3/5 for me, possibly 3,5/5, because I'm clearly missing out on the lyrical themes.

No surprise here. I see a couple of known bigots talk shit about this album. The worst thing is that they try to justify their "opinions" when it's clear that they haven't even listened to this album once.
In case anyone was wondering... This isn't an album for Burzum, Five finger Death Crap or Ted Nuggent fans.

I’m on the side of the spectrum that adores this. Creepy haunting spirituals behind a layer of noise that sounds like going to the opera while speedballing on different downers.

Way better than Caligula.
