Wow. So the EP was intriguing and I had some expectations coming into this but these guys blew those away. Sounds like Izthmi cut with some high energy Inferi and some Fallujah to boot. Awesome sound, great execution. Don't miss this one!

Edit: After 20+ spins, by "don't miss this one" I mean - This is album of the year material. Masterpiece of a debut.

I might be getting ahead of myself here, but I think this is on par with Epigone for album of the year. I didnt even know these people existed and they just dropped a masterpiece

Incredible album, definitely AOTY material.

I like it a lot, don't get me wrong. But just like with many progressive albums, the unecessary complexity hinders its relistenability value. Only time will tell....

Easily one of the most innovative albums I've heard In a long time. Well done on transforming the genre further.

This is remarkable. So fucking good

So much has obviously gone into this, the production is so polished and refined, and the musicianship is massively impressive, particularly the fretless bass work, and shredding solo's. This goes beyond technical with the endless vocal styles ranging from death metal growls, to black metal shrieks, to clean vocals. The tremolo riff style is geared more towards black metal, but the complex soloing is more technical death, and the endless tempo changes give it a progressive touch.

So many genre's overlap on this album that it's genuinely hard at times to keep up. The skill and musicianship wow me, but I personally am not wowed musically by it, I don't think it will be something I will listen to regularly.

What an absolute masterpiece.

It is very rare that a band manages to both shine in terms of innovation and creativity while also excelling at songwriting at the same time. Easily contender for AOTY so far.

This band clearly has a lot of talent so I am excited to see what they will produce in the future.

Cool album. 2nd listen through, this is as much technical death metal as it is black metal. The shredding guitar solos, the pumped up bass lines pushed forward in the mix.
This sounds closer to Allegaeon or especially Ne Obliviscaris than it does (for example) Sacramentum or Enslaved. I have a feeling this will be listed as 'progressive extreme metal' for the end of year awards (rightfully so).
Vocals are obviously BM and some of the tremolo picking and blasts are BM, but there's as much tech death in there.
The symphonic elements are solid but I gotta agree with the review, the double-intro is a bit much.

Anyway, that's splitting hairs unnecessarily, the album kicks ass

The technical skill on display here is like the cover art: amazing. Unfortunately, the songwriting isn’t anywhere near that level. The soundscape becomes exhausting quick and the riffs and melodies underwhelm. It is not an enjoyable combination at all. I also find the keyboards awful, they add nothing of value. The more measured parts like the middle section of “In This Empty Space” offer just enough variety for me to sit through this once, but I won’t re-visit it.

I actually feel bad saying all of this because the band has clearly put a ton of effort into this album, but what can you do…

Incredible release for a debutant. Some serious progressive black death going on here. Didn't realise the album is going to be this heavy. Also a lot is going on in the album, which I think, for a lack of better mixing or other production issues, is not quite decipherable to its best extent. Still some superb skills on display here. I for one will keep on waiting for more material from these guys.

Oh the solo on Condemned To A Life Of Grief is so cheesy
