Agree that the not even metal thing is tiresome. I guess the reason they have a page on MS is because they have crossover appeal which a lot of metal fans enjoy. I seem to recall they actually released a proper metal album some time back too.

I haven't really given King Gizzard enough attention because their back catalogue is exhausting.

They did. I reviewed it. Both is and metal archives added them because of it.

Fantastic album with a lot of versatility. I might even like it better than 'Infest the Rat's Nest'.

This is a metal website. If i said this somewhere else your reply would have made sense, but it doesn't make any sense to argue here. This is a metal website for promoting metal albums and this isn't a metal album.

The reason why this band is featured here was given by gavdann above. In any case, 99% of the content of this website is metal. You can ignore the 1% that is not metal, if you want.

You're in the habit of moaning a lot though, unlike most of us. The "this is not metal" broken record thing of yours is getting really tiring.

Between the four or maybe five albums this band released last year there is about one album of actually good music.
The same applies to the albums and songs themselves. Take that opening track; there is a great chorus, and some other good parts, but it has no business being 18 minutes long. And even with all that fat it is still by far the best thing I've heard from them. I'm convinced there is a fantastic song in there somewhere, but they didn't take the time and effort to refine it to greatness.

It's unfortunate, I would actually follow this band if they learned to cut the fat and learned how to write a song. It's good as aimless background music with the occasional good or even great moment, but most of it is filler, sadly.

I think I'm done trying to like them for now.
