Ok, a decade and a half, millions of dollars, multiple band members and associated musicians input - ignoring these stats is a hard thing to do while approaching this album, but let's give it a shot. Let's keep in mind the iconic figures that were once part of this band are long gone. This is no longer Slash, Duff, and Izzy's band, this is Axl's album - like it or not. So as a disclaimer I'm looking at this album as a stand-alone project, avoiding any comparisons to what once was.

Expected more but not bad n e way.

IMO without Slash and Duff, Guns N' Roses won't be like before at all.

If you can but it cheap then do.

by it's own merits it's fine enough. as GnR, yeah it's just Axel and some big names at his disposal like Buckethead.

nice album though, good sound, nice tunes, easy going, just like our kind music was 20 years ago.

I like Chinese Democracy, but it's not a perfect album.I gave it an 8 because I love some of the songs, but it's not even close to the great 80's and 90's albums.:metal:

I was never a GNR fan, not even of appetite for destruction. But i think this album is pretty cool. Chinese Democracy has some epic songs that in a normal situation would be considered amazing songs. Of course the difference of styles from the previous GNR and the new is huge.

I think it's a solid album with really great songs

Has some nice passages, but kind of boring, with Axl's voice ruining the mood.

I guess it was really hip to "hate" this album when it was first released. Main reason being, everybody thought Axl Rose was a parody of his former self. That said, I think as time has progressed, Chinese Democracy really isn't as bad as it was at first perceived. It turns out to be average, with some pretty bad songs (Better, If the World, Scraped) dragging the quality of what in my opinion are the album's outstanding highlights (title track, Street of Dreams, Sorry). Basically, the songwriting and instrumental arrangements can be really great at times in this album, but then again elsewhere you'd only be wishing that you were listening to Appetite for Destruction, if only for something a little more "fun".

Whatever, this isn't a Guns N' Roses album, and never will be, except by name. In fact, I like to think of it as an Axl Rose solo album, or what would probably sound like an Axl Rose album if the guy ever decided to go down that route. I mean, the end result of Chinese Democracy would probably sound vastly different had great line-up for both Use Your Illusion albums remained this far down the line. So my opinion of this album is that basically, the good does not quite outweigh the bad-it results in an average affair.

Bad English

This is 1th time I listen it as ''adult'' because when I was listening back in a days it sucked. Now it has Axel vocals, but its sucks, its bad album, for GnR , I dont like it. Some tunes, sounds, its it

I still remember when this thing came out. Since Chinese Democracy was in the making for a decade or so, you can bet your arse it was hyped like crazy. After just few weeks or months the whole thing was gone like a gust of wind, and I personally have never heard any of these songs played on any local radio stations since. And no wonder, since the album itself isn't any good, maybe mediocre at best, but that's it. Forgettable and boring.

As you can see, I am a mainland Chinese, and of course this album cannot be heard in mainland China. Although people all over the world are more or less aware of what the Chinese government is doing, the album Guns N’ Roses used satire on the Chinese government as a gimmick, and there is no profound criticism in it. Well, everyone can have their own interpretation. Let’s go back to the music itself. This album has many electronic elements. While listening to it, I almost thought it was not a Guns N’ Roses album. It's very different from anything they've done before. (Of course, this is related to the fact that almost all the band members have been replaced.) It’s true to try new things, and I also like the band to continue to innovate, but the electronic elements of this album are very abrupt and do not integrate well into the overall listening experience. There's very little about the songs that impresses me, at least compared to their previous work. Even though they have made new attempts in style, I can always vaguely hear the shadow of previous works in the arrangement of many songs, and they cannot reach the previous heights at all. Rose's voice is no longer as powerful as before, which makes the overall listening experience very bland. All in all, this is a very mediocre album, but it can't be called a bad album, at least it's worth listening to.

I will regret nothing.
