Oh snap! I'll already congratulate Matt on making a follow-up! "Black, sludge, thrash"? Sounds like an excellent combo waiting to happen!

Cheers guys, hope you both enjoy it! First single is out on Wednesday so you'll get a taste of it soon
Genres have been a point of uncertainty for us; there's definitely a black metal presence across the album, but I wouldn't call it black metal (aside from the song "Swarm"), and there's also some sharper thrashy riffs along with slow sludgier ones, so I've come to think of it as a mix of those styles plus elements from other ones. I think with genres, there's always the worry in the back of your mind that you're overthinking it and a listener from outside the band will give it a quick listen and immediately pinpoint it as more generic than it is, in which case you sound a bit pretentious, but people didn't really have a clear idea of what the debut was like, so hopefully this new one will also sound relatively fresh

Well I have to say this is a very impressive track, it has a very good sound quality, and has such an infectious rhythm and groove to it, and a solid harsh vocal performance too. The most impressive part for me though has to be the tempo change and build-up after mid-way. Without necessarily putting it into a specific genre, I'm inclined say meloblack is what I hear most.

I agree with Andy. Really looking forward to hearing the whole album. And a promo for the staff would be awesome

How does this compare to Deathday 666?
I don't think it's fair for any artist to be burdened with the pressure of comparisons to Deathday 666

Doesn't mind at all if this is black, post metal, thrash or sludge, it's a very interesting blending of all that and I hope you have a great future ahead.

Sounding good, Matt! A progression for the band I think for sure. You all have a place to stay in Seattle if the tour ever makes it that far.

Very good and fun album.
Don`t find a lot of Sludge in here which for me is a good thing because I don`t like it. Need to check out the debut now

This band should tour as opener for big band, 50 city Europe tour 50 "new country " maybe down under, and whit 3th album headline when sabaton or accept opens.
Impressed by this, great song writing songs, something from the 80s. Kerry sling should knee and bow for you, because you cuts blown away his solo debut to the dust. This kills.

Hope people who've listened to the album thus far are enjoying it! Not sure if there's many London Metal Stormers, but on the off chance anyone on here based in/around London hasn't got plans for tomorrow, we're playing the record in full in New Cross at our album launch show, so just giving that a little plug here

Very impressive album, it's a great performance as all-round and I can tell so much has gone into this, I'm not quite sure if I prefer this to the debut yet, but I'm equally impressed with both regardless. The songs that really stand out for me are "Prometheus Rise" and "Siege", but there's also great moments scattered throughout the album, some of those moments for me being the solo's on "Asphyxiation", and "Seat Of The Fire, the tone and overall sound has such an intense feel, and the growls are great and also really contribute towards that. It's an interesting combination of genres, so much do that you could say it has it's own original sound, am I right in saying I hear blackened death with a hint of blackened sludge mostly?

Glad you enjoyed Andy! It's funny, I hadn't really ever thought there was much death metal in the writing of this album (in my head it was black>sludge>thrash>other genres), but the couple of reviews that we've had for it thus far have mentioned it as an element, and Heavy Blog Is Heavy called it 'deathy black metal' in their weekly round-up, so evidently it's a greater factor in the album's composition than I'd recognized

Really good job! A significant step up from the debut, especially in the production. I especially like Matt's raspy vocals (here as well as on Chullachaqui). That's not to say that I don't like the deeper growls, and, in fact, I think it's a really good decision to have a mix of those two vocal styles to keep the listener on their toes. And the guitar-work is great throughout, but that kinda goes without saying. I think "Siege" is my favorite song here, but there are a lot of nice ones to choose from.

Damn! Kickass album tbh. Always loved me some dirty black/thrash now you add some sludge to the mix? It delivers the goods in any case. Also That "Pyrphoros" track is fucking unnerving, its cool and eerie. I sort of hate it and like it at the same time?
I probably have to agree with F3ynman there, "Siege" is a banger but I think I like "Seat Of The Fire" just as equally. Really great work, super engaging album from start to finish. Color me impressed. This'll do for now but musclassia and friends will have to keep us fed with that kind of quality music in the near future.
Any plans to tour in Canada one day? I know its far lol.

Thanks for such a positive comment Guib, I'm hoping it won't take 3 years until we've got more new music to release!
As for touring, the entirety of our touring thus far was a 3-date supporting stint in mid/south England 2 years ago, we're gonna need to scale it up baby steps - hopefully can try to do a co-headline tour with somebody decent in England (or maybe just southern England) later this year, and build from there assuming that it's successful. Maybe in a decade or two we might be approaching transcontinental touring!

Sorry just saw this comment: The panting I believe is a sample that our guitarist Jess found somewhere, not sure of its exact origin. The within-album story is that song leads into "Asphyxiation", the lyrics of which were initially inspired by the Essex lorry deaths, where a couple dozen migrants died of suffocation and/or hypothermia while being trafficked into the UK (which Pyrphoros is in some ways re-enacting) - the post-Swarm part of the album story is Prometheus bringing misery and strife upon humanity, with the individual songs taking cues from events that occurred around the turn of the decade when Jess was coming up with the concept, such as that and the 2020 riots in the US (Jon and I wrote the lyrics to fit with the intended stories for each song that Jess envisaged).

No worries. And thanks for that thorough explanation. The album just gets better and better with every spin
