For 40 years Metal has wrecked havoc upon this planet and over those 40 years we've seen brilliant bands, terrible bands, and bands so bland they might as well have not played anything at all. With literally tens of thousands of bands in existence the most difficult feat of a modern group is to be completely and utterly original.

I bought this album a few years ago and only appreciated it. I thought it sounded a little too thinly produced ( scattered or web-like?) Listening to it recently It's become my favorite DSO album. It's really cool how the tempo is up-kept, changed, and bounced between the instruments and it just keeps coiling and shifting throughout. I'd say the seemingly thin production helps everything stand out, what with the velocity of tempos and melodies coming at you.

I am the Magician and the Exorcist. I am the axle of the wheel, and the cube in the circle. “Come unto me” is a foolish word: for it is I that go.

This album actually reminds me a lot of Mayhem's "Ordo ad Chao". I mean, the albums sound nothing alike, in actuality, but I feel they share a very similar essence. They're both very dense, chaotic-sounding albums with a lot of crazy black metal experimentation going on. Funny that they were both released only a few months apart.

I may actually enjoy this more than Kenose. I may enjoy it more than a lot of albums, to be honest. Going to have to bump my rating up.

Rose again with Unchaining the Katechon and Mass Grave Aesthetics though. Then plummeted with Paracletus, with only one good song on =[

Hands down the worst of the trilogy of pretentious anti-christianity.

Isn't it more pro-Christianity, seeing as they love Satan and that?

Still a fine album at any rate. Like 8 or so.

Well wikipedia says that is pretentious satanism. So I guess I was wrong.
I thought I would love this just like Si Monumentum and Kenose, but the songs here are completely unremarkable, nothing sticks to my head.

I only tried Si Momentum a long back and was so bored by it back then that I haven't bothered to check them out. Kenose was good, will try to give this a listen.

Dillinger Escape Plan on steroids playing black metal. An album like this shouldn't be humanly possible. DSO are truly gods of the genre!

Sometimes I find glimpses of brilliance throughout this album, that's if I have the time, patience, and concentration for it, but for the most part it gets irritatingly complex, and I still find it a chore for the to get through tbh. Shame really

Have you tried Kénôse or Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice? I found those a bit easier to enjoy

Interesting to see someone losing DsO virginity in reverse order. I never did it and initially got disappointed until it all made sense. When you do have this take hold of you you become patrician. It's the greatest trilogy in anything that is in threes. None of Blut Aus Nord's sets of threes comes close. And Panzerfaust in league with DsO?
