I don't usually rate something 10, but this album totally deserves it. How is it possible that only the news about Tommy Karevik and Kamelot made me know this awesome band?

A very strong concept album indeed. Everyone should check it out asap!

Pretty awesome band. The strange thing, though, is how cheerful tunes contrast with dark and somewhat decadent lyrics. Listen to "Unbreakable" for example.

Reminds me of [i]The Human Equation{/i], which is always an awesome thing.

Pretty ho-hum prog release to me. Nothing genre bending.

Normally, I'm not into prog metal. At all. So, you'd expect me to dislike this, right? Wrong: I actually really enjoy listening to this, as it has some incredible tracks on it and even the stuff I don't like as much is held together perfectly thanks to Tommy Karevik's fantastic vocals. I honestly would struggle to have anything seriously negative about this album!

Just like Nemo - I'm not usually intro straight prog metal, but this record...damn, it's so good! Keyboards, guitars, bass, drums, vocals! Everything fit really good.

Flows very well, but the woeful dialogue segments make Operation Mindcrime look like War of the Worlds...

Just wrapping up another listen of this album, probably my 5th or 6th over the past year, and I still can't say for certain if I really like it or not. I think if I listen to any 30-second snippet from the album it sounds like I should like, but it's perhaps a bit short on memorable hooks to pull all of the components together? Still hovering on a 7-8 score. Hide And Seek continues to be the most memorable song on the album

I love concept albums and Kamelot happens to be full of that. Like many people, I listened Seventh Wonder's discography because I knew this as the other band of Tommy Karevik. There's a lot of good things but I don't know, I find them a bit green. I think a few albums to mature their music would be good and Mercy Falls is a good step in that direction. I'll keep an eye on them.

Of course, music like this usually needs a couple of listens to sink in. I'll come back to it, since there was plenty to like. I've heard "The Great Escape" before and wasn't too fond of Karevik's vocal histrionics. On Mercy Falls the band just strikes me as being too... hyper.
Calm down and let the songs breathe!

Haha. Yeah I can understand that sentiment. Especially the first few listens are overwhelming. Me personally I kinda like that extra energy that they brought on this record.
