Truly brilliant album, the huge drop in quality from here to their last two albums only serves to highlight this.

Agree this is a brilliant album for its time. Probably the best work by Faith No More.

There's a lot to be admired in this album, and one of those things is the diversity and experimentation. Some really heavy songs like 'Caffeine' and 'Malpractice' are well complemented by softer tracks like 'Easy' and 'Midnight Cowboy'. However I feel as if the album itself is longer than it should be, because a lot of the songs do seem to be very slow-moving. Nonetheless it stands as one of the band's finest albums to date.

Yes, its probably their best album ever. This album shows perfection in every way possible. The musicianship is simply perfect, the songs are well written and Mike Pattons vocals are maybe the best ever! Masterpiece!

Real Thing might have had those super catchy singles but Angel Dust is a far more consistent and better crafted album.
It's only fault is that I think the Korn guys listened to it a lot.
hahaha, agree. Never got into Korn - probably a good thing for me. Stupid band name as well.

I can't believe I am just now starting to appreciate this masterpiece of an album. So ahead of its time and so varied and maniacal, not a dull moment to be found. The bands finest for sure, and Mike Patton's peak of vocal excellence as well. Constant replayability.

One of my all-time favourite albums. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what is so great about this album, maybe it's the masterful variation in styles and genres, maybe it's the dark overtones and themes throughout.
I remember reading an interview with the bassist about this album a few years back, apparently the theme of this album is darkness hidden behind beauty:
* 'Angel Dust' is a beautiful name for a horrendous drug that makes people go insane.
* The bird on the front is a magestic animal that can become violent when provoked (the back cover of the albums is a photo of carcasses in a slaughterhouse).
The music and lyrics reflect that theme - enjoyable to listen to but have a much darker meaning.

That bass in the first song. I remember the first time I heard Land Of Sunshine and just kept repeating the first few seconds because the bass sounded so cool.

There are highly regarded albums, where “you had to be there” and technically, I was. However, I was just a toddler at that time. It must have been awesome to already be a Faith No More fan when Angel Dust came out, but this album is still absolutely amazing and stands strong over time. I have a feeling it can withstand any test, any time.

I saw FNM at Hammersmith Odeon in 1990 on the Real Thing tour. I think it was the night after the Live at Brixton gig and both shows was absolutely stellar.
I bought Angel Dust on the day it was released but I can't for the life of me think why I never saw them live again. It was probably either missed opportunities or changing music tastes in 1992/93. I spent a few years raving in warehouses, off my head on E during the mid 90's
