Sounds pretty good

Good riffs, good vocals..... Did not like the drumming. The style is fine (although isn't nearly as good as Harvey's but can't blame the dude for that). It's the sound itself which isn't too good specially compared to all their previous works which have a perfect sound. Damn, the very ending is specially weird sounding :\

I gave this band a thorough listen for the first time yesterday, and this sounds quite a lot different from "Prowler In The Yard"... I like the riffing in this song a lot, but the production and overall sound lacks the visceral and terrifying atmosphere conjured up on that album. Also, the lack of bass is glaringly obvious on better produced grind such as this, whereas the lack of it wasn't really noticeable on "Prowler In The Yard" (and indeed, it wasn't necessary on that album either.) I think for this new album, they definitely should have utilised a bass. However, I still liked what I heard enough that I am quite looking forward to checking out this album.

Sounds very stripped down, The guitar doesn't have as much punch as their previous efforts and the lack of bass is quite obvious (as said above) Overall a good song though, Looking forward to the album.

While checking out Terrifyer and Phantom Limb (and the big compilation that has the debut+demos+splits+extra stuff) you'll notice that in no one of those albums the lack fo bass was even remotely a problem. This is a recent thing and I'm slightly worried tbh. In all previous works the lack of bass was fixed with help of a heavy and massive sound on the guitars and also a good sound for the drums... Like I pointed out in my previous post: I'm not a big fan of the drums here as the sound doesn't cover the lack of bass as it used to do and the guitars sound a bit thinner which doesn't help. They definitely need to listen to their own Terrifyer (which is probably their heavist in terms of sound) in order to remember how to make a truly heavy album with no bass.

I haven't listened to those albums yet (though I probably will over the course of this weekend. lol ), but the lack of bass wasn't even something I noticed on "Prowler In The Yard". The production on this new song is very clear and clean (at least for grind anyway!), and with production of that type, it's much harder to mask something such as the lack of bass. The guitar needs to have a much heavier low-end to compensate for the lack of bass on a much more cleanly produced album such as this one appears to be. But the guitar sound is far from "full" enough to be up to the task here. It's a shame, cos the riffs themselves are really good, but I think it would have benefitted from either a rawer production, or utilising a bass. The sound is a bit empty and sparse, which doesn't do the riffs justice. I suspect the riffs and songs will be able to shine through the production though, I hope so anyway!

I can definitely understand how you feel. I've waited a long time for this album too specially because all their previous work is pure gold to me and to be perfectly honest: To me they are the best grindcore band I've ever heard... At least in those works. You are right on the fact that PD's strength is in the overall product, never in specific songs so the best thing I can do is wait and try to keep my expectations as low as possible.

It might not be as brilliant as their other releases (haven't heard "Explosions In Ward 6" yet). But it's still by far my favorite grindcore album of the year. Strong 8/10.

10/10 Absolute perfect in my eyes. Although I'm already a super fucking big pig destroyer fan. Has been playing a whole lot this past couple weeks.

Picked up the deluxe edition today with the bonus short story (haven't read that yet), and the album is definitely good. I was a little worried from the singles released, but It's always hard hearing short grindcore songs and trying to figure out your expectations for an album based on that. All together it's pretty much the same from the band, maybe not quite as good as the last two releases, but it's still good.

This words are basically what I felt about this album from the first few songs and after I heard the entire album.
It's great stuff, not as great as the previous albums but it's definitely an album that deserves to be among their other albums!

Will this top Liberteer's effort as Grindcore of the year for me?

This is a really cool album and much more interesting grind album compared to another well known band's recent release. It is not as good as Terrifyer or Phantom Limb... or Prowler in the yard.. Still a competent album though for sure.

After a couple spins I like this a lot. Production is stripped down, but clear. It's not devastating like Phantom Limb or Terrifyer, but it's more vicious like Prowler in the Yard and Explosions in the Ward. The songs all kick ass, I love the return to the shorter form. Very groovy, yet some serious straight grind on here.

I know Scott Hull engineers, produces, and usually mixes/masters their stuff at his studio, so my guess would be all the guitars are done direct in, and the drums are probably recorded in a small room. The fact that it sounds so clean and so perfect leads me to think that. This could be why it sounds thin (or flat as you say) and uninteresting because there is simply no life to it. Digital recording isn't always bad, but sometimes this can be a problem. Normally I don't like this either, but on this record it didn't bother me as much. Or maybe just the music was just so damn good that I didn't really care. Sometimes music requires the tight, clean sound and sometimes it requires a more analog, trashier, or "less perfect" sound. Either way, I don't feel like it detracted from the album too much. The more I listen, the more I find this might become my favorite PD album.

That sounds very logical to me. This record does lack a natural and organic feel to it, which doesn't sit too well with me. I love my cybergrind, Agoraphobic Nosebleed is my fave grindcore band in fact, but somehow this has a fabricated sound which I can't get on board with.

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed the record, but it didn't appeal much when it comes to strong previous releases. It has lot of flaws in production, sound gets more choppy, less-abrasive and stripped down. The appeal was lost in midsection of the record while guest vocalists tried to uplift the mood of the album, but to no avail.

Still, a good record to measured in the field of Grindcore, but it stands way behind in the lines of the rich discography PD possessed.

Again It's a very good album by them, but somehow I don't find this as memorable, nor as impressive as the previous three releases before it, it sounds kind of flat imo due to the production quality, and it lacks in aggression. The plus side is it still has plenty of grooviness to it.

The last five tracks in general are the main highlights for me, particularly the last track "Permanent Funeral", they all have a perfectly balanced flow. "Iron Drunk" is another one that stands out for me, but there isn't necessarily any bad tracks on this album either, so it's certainly consistent as per usual.
