As is often the case with bands that never stand still in terms of musical conventions and styles, every new album is a bit of a challenge for the long-time fan to come to terms with. Home is exactly this sort of album. Obviously, the Gathering's music is no longer even remotely metal. Instead, this new album seems to be the final conclusion of the journey that the band has been on ever since they decided that monolithic doom riffs were kinda boring in the long run.

Such a beautiful, soft, deep album.
I'd give it a full 10 if it wasn't for "Solace" -sounds really out of place, and what's that shitty spanish spoken word?
Anyway, "Forgotten Reprise" is just moving; they couldn't write a better closure for this unique album.

A very relaxing, sometimes ambient album, yet it still comes across as exciting and deeply emotional music thanks to the more experimental nature of 'Solace' and such songs. 'Forgotten' and 'Home' are beautiful.

Their best album.

A very strong release.

I would say this is far from their best.
But it is their last decent album, unfortunately.
