After hearing the single "Celebrity Touch", many have feared (or hoped) that Riverside would, like a lot of prog bands in recent years (Pain Of Salvation, Opeth, Dark Suns to name a few) find their new permanent address in the 70's - the decade's dirtier, grittier rock or its prog. That was not the case, luckily, since what we got instead is much more interesting than the prospect of Riverside turning to the past - they turned to the future.

Yes I found it a bit unequal as well. That's talking in terms of the comparison between the exceptional tracks "We Got Used To Us"/ "Feel Like Falling" and the rest of the album which is certainly of a standard of quality. Two very high points with the rest not quite matching them, although "The Depth of Self-Delusion" might come close.
But the sound of the album... it's impossibly smooth. Production is above and beyond their previous records.

First impressions upon first listen: this album is darker and new ground for the band. It does remind me of the "Voices In My Head" EP possibly because of the use of acoustic guitars. Need more time with the album, it's different and I like that.

Favourite songs so far: Feel Like Falling/Coda

Sounds fantastic! I predict that this will be on my personal top albums of the year list later on (even though it's very early, but still). Really loving this experience!

I'm disappointed with this release and I love most of Riverside's past work but this one is just...flat. I'm not sure if they're is a better way for me to explain it. I find the album incredibly dull.

My experience so far is similar to the one with the 2011 EP. I can't say I like but I feel I should listen to this one very attentively in the dark, with nothing distracting me.

First riverside album, classy shit with a good production, everything is well pronounced and well balanced. Most of the songs are great. Some of them are kind of meh though, like elevator shrine, I can never sit though it all.

A really good album for relaxing to on a Sunday afternoon.

Seriously, it has that soothing non-imposing ambience delivered by the likes of Porcupine Tree. However, when they turn up the progressive elements they really seem to be having a ball with it.

''Celebrity Touch'' is a load of fun in particular-no real prog-centric ''look at this riffage; I dominate time signatures like a motherfucker''. It just has this unstoppable momentum that will stick in your head all day.

'We got used to us' and 'Free falling' are beautiful. Shame the rest of the songs aren't of such high calibre.

Free falling?! LOL Didn't know Tom Petty was on Riverside's last album.

Anno Domini High Definition I'd say, although everyone's favorite seems to be Second Life Syndrome.
I'd take any record of their discog over this one, so you'll be safe with whatever you choose I guess.
