The Family Jams is the first cassette by the newly renamed Marilyn Manson, since changing their name from Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids, released in 1992. Despite this it was actually the band's eighth official cassette, and the fifth to be sold publicly. The cassette was titled after the namesake of an album written by American serial killer Charles Manson, and recorded by the infamous Manson Family in 1970.
