With this new album the Gods Lost Horizon are able to reach again the maximum musical level they reached in their first release, Awakening The World. Again we have the first an the last track missed, I mean, the album has 9 tracks, but the first and the last one are just galactic sounds of disintegration, not songs, we can not consider them songs at all, so we have actually a 7 songs album. Anyway, the album has a total playtime of 53 minutes, which means we have songs from 6 to 13 minutes long, so the album is not a fake at all in this sense. With this new album the band's sound has matured a lot, and the arrival of new members have helped to give the band their own sound and sign.

This band never got the recognition they diserved, maybe because it was also short lived.

I remember picking this up dirt cheap as a teenager when I was big into power metal. Back then the German model appealed to me, with Helloween, Gamma Ray, Avantasia, Blind Guardian etc. Thought it was cool, but it's mostly been sitting in my shelf untouched for all these years. Some time ago I picked it up again. Turns out it's pretty much the best power metal album I know. It's ridiculously over the top, but somehow it also sidesteps the biggest musical cheese bombs in power metal. It's never stupid or easy. The verses flow seamlessly into the refrains. Maybe it's that I've lately listened to a lot more doom and epic metal by extension, and this is definitely closer to the epic end of power metal than the thrashy or the keyboard-pop branches of it.

Thought I couldn't enjoy power metal anymore, but lately I've been enjoying this album thoroughly.

Brilliant, Daniel Heiman is amazing here, the band is very reminiscent of Boston, melodic as hell. I need more!

Apparently among the best power metal albums ever written and at the same time the most unkown among them. Maybe Timeless Miracle can compare.

The greatest power metal album ever created. Considering the state of the genre, pretty sure nothing will ever be able to top it.

The greatest power metal album ever created. Considering the state of the genre, pretty sure nothing will ever be able to top it.

I agree that's it's a hidden gem but I enjoyed some other Power Metal albums more. Just one example, Melancholy Beast by Pyramaze which was released a year after (2004) but I can name few other albums. I am not comparing the technicality of those bands, but the overall quality of the songs, production and performance. I think there were several PM releases after that were as good and maybe to some even slightly better.

I feel like this album is the epitome of power metal, although it could be better. I think the order of the tracks could be a little different. And especially the ending: Even though The One is an undeniably excellent song, I think it has a couple of parts to spare, and the inertia of that song is lost a bit with those parts getting in the way. So much so that I don't think it should last 12 minutes, but 10 at most. Despite this, I understand why many say this is possibly PM's best album.

Hard to believe it isn't THE #1 album of 2003. I might be wrong but it's like a Power Metal album cannot be rated very high by some just because it doesn't have balls and given that sad criteria, an 8.8 on metal storm shows just how undeniably good this album is.

This album is incredible! It's one of the finest in the whole of power metal, although imo, Imaginations From The Other Side is the best power metal album, in terms of songwriting anyway, but this is the most enjoyable, and the one I keep going back too most.

It's practically faultless, the vocal performance is simply outstanding, there is an endless supply of seriously catchy melodies, and there is such an epic sound, all the songs are high quality, with no fillers, but "Highlander" is just sheer epic beyond belief!

From what I read Wojtek might have been a dick, but goddamn he had great vision for music. And they nailed it the very first time too. Very sad that it all came apart.
