Some wise guy in some forum recently said "Sure, DragonForce only has one song, but it's catchy as hell."

The album leaked apparently, don't know if it's any good or not though.

Edit: With all the bonus tracks this is just as good as the last album, if not better.

Dont get me wrong, I used to like Dragonforce a lot. From the period when they were called DragonHeart to Sonic Firestorm, it used to be a cool band but everything after Inhuman Rampage sounded like a satire of the whole power metal genre

No, just the one. An editing error that's been fixed.

This band is a living joke.

So what does that say about the multitude of bands this year that aren't "living jokes" releasing albums inferior to this?

Living jokes of a joke.

Jokeption.

Really though, the first track released and the Johnny cash cover are just atrociously bad, like the review says "one song wonders" and I couldn't agree more(even tho it's not the reviewers opinion) I haven't heard the full album (but seriously, d I really need to?) but so far the only album this year that's on par/worse than this is maybe Wovenwar's debut.

They might not be everyone's ideal version of what a metal band should be but they've carved out a niche in the power metal scene, and that on its own is no small feat. Credit where it's due. I think the music sucks and that's why I don't bother listening to it but I wouldn't be so quick to label these guys a joke. They're professional musicians who make a fair amount of money doing what they do (ie. living the dream of probably millions of people). I'd be alright being labeled a joke by teenagers on a metal forum if it meant touring the world, performing my music on stage, and probably getting laid on the regular.

Maybe I'm a sellout though.

Not that it matters, anyway. The album is indeed impressive from what I've heard, thereby proving Willy wrong once again.

Tanner is a self-professed "Pop punk crusader". That entire genre is one big fat joke. I wouldn't take his opinion very seriously when he starts trash talking popular bands if I were y'all.

Matt Heafy's presence on this album is a great definition of the term "unnecessary" - this is one band that'll never need the Cookie Monster treatment.

I'm very impressed with the work on this. If people would put aside the "it's been done before" logic, they would realize that this is an incredibly solid and powerful power metal release. I personally dig some of the thrashy elements myself.

Shows what you know. Matt did a decent job in this album, and by decent, I mean "he didn't ruin anything with his poppy cleans."

So are you of the opinion that "The Game" was somehow improved by him growling in the background?

Along with Defenders and even No More, though that song was kinda doomed from the start.

Didn't add anything to it either. He's just... there.

I am just glad that this wasn't an album solely made up of "let's play really fast solos the whole way through" and instead actually tried to be a proper power metal album. (even though it did have moments where it broke that trend)

There was actually some moments of pretty decent songwriting here. I was really pleasantly surprised by the string of songs from Three Hammers to Defenders.

As a power metal album, I wouldn't say it's anything too special, but it feels like Dragonforce have finally started to grow up a bit with their songwriting. It's definitely an improvement.

Crackin' album. Great guitar lines. Fun melodies. Hilariously cheesy lyrics.

Pretty much all I want in metal.

Power metal is much more highly regarded and respected than pop-punk ever will be. Pop-punk is a phase, highly doubt it's going to stand the test of time and last for another 2 or 3+ decades.
